چکیده
Modeling of the land surface water-, energy-, and carbon balance provides insight into behavior Earth System, under current future conditions. Currently, there exists a substantial variability between model outputs, for range types, whereby differences input parameters could be an important reason. For large-scale surface, hydrological, crop models, soil hydraulic properties (SHP) are required as inputs, which estimated from pedotransfer functions (PTFs). To analyze functional sensitivity widely used PTFs, water fluxes different scenarios using HYDRUS-1D were simulated predictions compared. The results showed that PTFs causes in predicted fluxes. In addition, in-depth analysis SHPs derived characteristics was performed to why cause behave differently. obtained provide guidelines selection large scale models. performance terms numerical stability, time-integrated cumulative fluxes, well instantaneous evaluated, order compare suitability PTFs. Based on this, Rosetta, Wösten, Tóth PTF seem most robust Mualem van Genuchten Cosby Brooks Corey functions. our findings, we strongly recommend harmonize inter-comparison studies avoid artifacts originating choice rather structures.

Multiscale Pedotransfer Functions for Soil Water Retention
Soil hydraulic properties are needed in globaland regionalscale circulation models for hydrologic and climate forecasting. They are also necessary in pointand nonpoint-source contaminant transport models. Prediction accuracy of these models is highly dependent on the quality of the model parameters. Collecting the required soil hydraulic parameters by direct measurement at any model grid scale ...

متن کاملField-Scale Water Flow Simulations Using Ensembles of Pedotransfer Functions for Soil Water Retention
Using pedotransfer functions (PTF) to estimate soil hydraulic properties may be necessary in soil water flow simulations for large-scale projects or in pilot studies. The accuracy of a PTF outside of its development dataset is generally unknown. The existence of multiple models that are developed and tested in one region, but may perform relatively poorly in other regions, is also common in met...
متن کاملevaluation of pedotransfer functions and effect of organic matter in prediction of soil saturated water content
abstract saturated water content is one of the important parameters which its measurement is necessary in estimation of soil water retention and unsaturated hydraulic conductivity curves. in several researches, saturated water content is assumed to be equal to soil total porosity. in some others, its value is estimated by pedotransfer functions using readily available parameters, such as bulk d...
متن کاملSimulating the effect of capillary flux on the soil water balance in a stochastic ecohydrological framework
[1] Groundwater uptake can play a major role in the survival of vegetation in semiarid areas, but this has not yet been included in an earlier developed ecohydrological stochastic framework. In this paper we provide a piecewise linear equation which includes capillary fluxes from shallow groundwater in the loss function of the ecohydrological stochastic model. The results indicate that this mod...
